The journey
Ilesa
Busuyi Ayowole’s musical journey began in Ilesa, a town rich in faith traditions and choral heritage. Born into a home shaped by Methodist discipline, an evangelical mother, and Anglican ancestry, he grew up surrounded by hymns, liturgy, and diverse church music traditions.
Age 15
From childhood, he showed an unusual sensitivity to harmony and melody. By age 15, he became an organist at Deeper Life Bible Church, Ilesa, where he learned to balance reverence, simplicity, and musical clarity.
Village churches
His early years included playing in village churches, small congregations, and community fellowships, experiences that taught him adaptability, humility, and the ability to communicate through music regardless of setting.
Traditions
He expanded across Methodist, Anglican, Pentecostal, Evangelical, and independent ministries, absorbing cathedral liturgy, choral processions, and formal hymnody.
Today
Today, Busuyi is a composer, organist, conductor, and musical thinker blending classical technique with Yoruba melodic heritage and contemporary choral textures. His compositions include hymns, anthems, cantatas, and orchestral works performed across Nigeria.
